Regal Seal for Leading Developers

FORMER BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond has given a regal seal of approval to leading Kendal developers.
Celebrating 50 years of business, Russell Armer Homes had special anniversary recognition at a glittering London gala ceremony.
Highly commended in prestigious UK Property Awards for landmark Kentgate Place in Kendal, Russell Armer is scooping up honours.
Construction director, Andrew Taylor, who received the award from Jennie Bond, said it was a welcome accolade from industry leaders.
Already named the north's best large housing development, 46 luxury riverside apartments at Kentgate are now finalists in Northern Design awards. Russell Armer's managing director, Martyn Nicholson, said the success was very special, particularly as it had come during half century celebrations. "Kentgate sold well through a very tough economic period. It shows that quality development in the right location - and one that offers good value for money - will always be in demand."
Northern Design Champions will take to the stage at Manchester's Lowry Hotel on November 24, compèred by George Clarke, of Channel 4's Restoration Man.

Modern Mode for Ancient Place

An historic Ingleton site which a century ago was a flourishing steam laundry is becoming a popular place for home buyers.

Old Laundry Mews is emerging as a prime housing location and, not surprisingly, interest is surging.

Award-winning Kendal developers Russell Armer Homes have brought a distinctive scheme of five houses and 11 apartments to the market, where quality and value for money go hand-in-hand.

First floor, mid terrace plot 9 has two bedrooms and offers buyers roomy, open plan comfort for just £129,950.

The 4.08 by 3.41m living room leads on to a smart kitchen diner. Boasting a comprehensive range of Zanussi appliances, along with stylish units and worktops, the fitted kitchen has huge appeal.

A classy bathroom comes courtesy of Gustavsberg, a Villeroy & Boch company, and the master bedroom is a generous 4.71 by 2.82m.

Allocated parking space for plot 9 is also a bonus on a development where half the homes have already been sold.

An idyllic village on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, Ingleton offers easy access to the Lakes and Morecambe. The lively village has a good range of shops, schools, library and a GP surgery.

In a thriving community, there are excellent sporting opportunities, including an open-air summer pool, and a rich industrial heritage.

Visit Old Laundrey Mews' impressive show apartment, open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 11am to 5.30pm, 07967 167033.

Going for Industry Gongs

LANDMARK riverside apartments in an acclaimed £11 million development are short-listed for top building awards.

Already named the north's best large housing development, 46 luxury apartments at Kendal's Kentgate Place are finalists in both UK Property and Northern Design award competitions.

Managing director of developers Russell Armer Homes, Martyn Nicholson, said he was delighted by the accolades. He explained: "It was extremely important to us that the design for this prominent site on the bank of the River Kent delivered a very special building.

"The whole Russell Armer team is proud of what we achieved at Kentgate and we get many positive comments at local level. To receive great national recognition is the icing on the cake!

"The scheme sold well through a very tough economic period, which shows that quality development in the right location - and one that offers good value for money - will always be in demand."

Winners of high profile UK Property Awards will be announced at a prestigious London gala dinner on October 28.

Meanwhile, Northern Design champions take to the stage at Manchester's Lowry Hotel on November 24, compèred by George Clarke, of Channel 4's Restoration Man.

Martyn Nicholson added: "We are celebrating our 50th anniversary and being nominated for top awards really makes this an exceptional milestone year."

Building the Best

ONE of the building industry's top regional quality awards has gone to a South Lakeland site manger for the fifth time. Mike Hillbeck, of Kendal-based Russell Armer Homes, scooped the prestigious Pride in the Job award at a northwest National House Building Council (NHBC) ceremony in Manchester. Described as a 'remarkable achievement', the 54 year-old said he was pleased and honoured to receive recognition of his work at the site of an old steam laundry in Ingleton.

Mike - who has been with Russell Armer for 15 years - has spearheaded the Old Laundry Mews development, which boasts five houses and 11 apartments. He said: "This award is special because it comes from the building industry. We have to prove we have proper, effective control over every aspect of a site - and produce high quality homes. "It's all about attention to detail and being organised! "Obviously, it's great to win for the fifth time, not just for myself, but for the company. It shows our commitment to producing top quality houses that we're justifiably proud of."

Mike, who lives in Kendal, has stolen the honours with different Russell Armer developments and says to date, he has overseen the building of around 170 homes for the company. Russell Armer s construction director, Andrew Taylor, said: "This is a remarkable achievement and another prized award for us. We continue to get recognition because we are committed to building the best!"
